This craft had the most impact on an emotional level. Considering that the craft helped us to celebrate how special and unique all of us are and that GOD HIMSELF has created and design every one of us equally! That puts a lot into perspective, doesn’t it?
I hope this craft helps your kids realise how special they are- JUST the way GOD made them!
1. Bible Story
God Created The World
GOD is nearly finished creating everything. Day 6 was a VERY busy day of creating for GOD. Can you remember all the things GOD created on Days 1-5?
Remeber on the first part of day 6 we learned how GOD created all the creeping things and animals for the different habitats? Remeber how special GOD created all the animals and specially designed each and every animal for the habitat they live in?
Now on part two of day 6 GOD created HIS most special creation! A man named Adam!
The most extraordinary part is GOD made man to be like HIS image! And GOD said that man would rule over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the earth and the creatures that walk on the earth! Wow! that means from the beginning GOD said we ought to care for the Earth and all the animals and plants that live on the Earth.
What is so incredible is that GOD created all the animals special and magnificant for their habitats. So, how much more special and important are we? GOD created all of us EXACTLY how we are meant to be!
JESUS loves the Little Children
The method of the craft is above in the video and the template is below (:
Every craft we do is done as a concrete resource to help your child understand abstract concepts. So in the middle of having fun making the crafts, we drive home those abstract concepts (;
I Am Special Craft
This craft is trying to illustrate that we are all different in every way and THAT is what makes us special. One point I really tried to drive home is that GOD made us and every feature we have is from GOD and we should be thankful for it! Our greatest focus was on the fact that our beauty lies in our uniqueness.
There are so many combinations one could make with these templates! The funny thing to me is, all three of my children look different! I guess this is especially funny because I have twins that look SO different! My toddler absolutes enjoyed making all the combinations!
It was so fun for my toddler to make different combinations. I suggest if moms want to keep these crafts as a game; laminate the different templates so that they will be able to use it over and over and color the laminated templates with markers.
Let’s do some learning (:
Remember although our lessons are divided into three themes, there are many times that concepts will overlap the three themes below.
Before I continue, let’s keep in mind that all lessons CAN BE ADJUSTED to the child’s age and cognitive readiness. For me personally, I have toddlers-so that’s the level I focus on. Please enjoy the FREE printable below to help you optimize your child’s learning
In the light of trying to emphasize that the LORD has made us all unique and SPECIAL, I did a comprehensive worksheet to promote self-esteem in toddlers.
For my toddler, I allowed her to draw her answers, but for older youth they can write their answers.
The purpose of the activity is to teach that they should be proud of their unique features and be proud of differences instead of trying to be the same.
