My aim is always to be 100% Biblically accurate. So this story is told with complete accuracy of details we often overlook and i left out the bits that we sometimes teach, but isn’t technically in the Bible (yikes!)
Let’s get learning!

Noah’s Builds the Ark
Genesis 4:16 – 7:16
After Cain did this bad thing to his brother, GOD punished him and he left the place where his Mom and Dad, Adam and Eve, lived and he started his own family.
So Adam and Eve were all alone, because Cain killed Abel, and he left them. So Adam and Eve had another son, and they named him Seth. Seth made his mom, dad and GOD very proud. And Seth had a son named Enosh who was good and prayed and called on the name of the LORD.
Meanwhile, Cain built a new city for him to live in and he had children, and his children had children. But the sad thing is all of Cain’s family seemed to be as cruel and violent as he was, and the Bible says that Cain’s great-great-grandson, Lamech was so evil that he even brags about how he kills people even if they just hurt him a little bit. Oh! All this wickedness made GOD very sad!
The Bible says that as the years went past, more and more people lived on the Earth and the Bible even says that “the sons of GOD” (Gen 6:2)saw that human ladies were beautiful, and married them! Imagine that! Angels from Heaven coming down to marry women, and the Bible says their babies were giants! (Gen 6:4) Did you know that? Those were the mighty men.
Oh, but GOD was not happy at all! GOD saw that the people only did, and thought about evil and violent things. GOD was so sad and felt sorry that HE made humans, and GOD decided he was going to destroy everyone, even the animals!
But luckily there was one good man left on the entire earth, Noah! GOD was happy with Noah because he was good, and taught his wife, and three sons, Ham, Shem and Japhet how to do what is right, and this made GOD happy in all the things that he did. So GOD decided HE was going to save Noah and his family. Would you like to know how?
GOD said to Noah. “I am going to destroy all the living things on earth, but I will save you and your family” So GOD gave Noah instructions to build an ark because GOD was going to bring great floodwaters to fill the earth with water so that every living thing that breathes will drowned. Isn’t that a bit sad?
GOD said HE will make a new covenant (which is like a promise) with Noah, his wife, their three sons, Ham, Shem and Japhet and their wives. These 8 people were the only good and righteous people in the entire world.
GOD told Noah that he should save every kind of animal in the world. GOD said Noah should take 1 pair (a male and a female) of every animal that they did not eat, like bugs, pigs or camels, etc. So it was like 1 boy pig and 1 girl pig, and 1 boy giraffe and 1 girl giraffe.
And of the birds in the sky and the animals they did eat, GOD said Noah should take 7 pairs of each animal. So that means 7 boy sheep and 7 girl sheep, and what is 7+7? 14 sheep altogether!
So because Noah always listened to GOD, he built the ark, gathered food for his family and the animals on the ark, and all of them entered the ark as GOD commanded them, and GOD shut the door of the ark, and it began to rain!
This is how crazy I am about Biblical accuracy.
I thought an appropriate song for this lesson would be “Mr. Noah built an ark” right? But actually I felt a bit uncomfortable with the lyrics because the lyrics talk about “mister Noah pleaded so, but into the ark they would not go” which is definitely not what the Bible says at all. There’s also, “The people thought it’s such a laugh” that Noah built the ark, but where in the Bible does it say that? So basically, I did the safe thing and change the song.
I Hear the Tap Tap Tapping of the Raindrops
Every craft is done as a concrete resource to help your child understand abstract concepts. So in the middle of having fun making the crafts, we drive home those abstract concepts (;
This is the category of ‘birds’ that had to enter the ark in 7 pairs (14 of every kind of bird)
This is the category of ‘unclean animals’ that had to enter the ark in a pair (male and female of every kind). I used a pig to help open the discussion that Jews had different laws of what they could eat and what was deemed ‘unclean’ to eat and these rules changed later in the New Testament.
Let’s do some learning (:
